NIGH!

nigh is a film and a band. it’s a film about the band. we’ve made both up, and now they’ve both come true.

Nigh! is the name of a band made up of two people; Chloe and Daphnis, a young couple in Austin, Texas, loosely affiliated with UT, living in semi-squalid conditions while pursuing a dream of being musicians together. They have a friend, an unnamed Cameraman, who makes a home-movie style documentary about their artistic process. We see the story unfold from the inner world of this documentary and the outer world of Daphnis and Chloe’s ‘real’ lives.

This started as a love story, but since the writing of the first draft the film has evolved to encompass aspects of spiritual awakening, elegiac emotions for a dying spirit in Austin, a demonstration of the need for practice and rehearsal, and many other sub-topics. We are confident that an audience interested in subject matter such as this will thoroughly enjoy watching our movie.

We are doing this because we are insane artists who see a forsaken city being overrun by timocractic outsiders pushing out all the youthful idealists. Many move away, but many more still settle here and slowly their life force is siphoned off, so that as they approach middle age they tend not to look back. It’s too heartbreaking. This life-cycle of disillusionment needs to die, and we’re planning that this movie kills it.
